Wubet – Community Worker, Interpreter, Social Worker

Wubet moved from Ethiopia to Kenya, before arriving in New Zealand in 2002. She has lived in Christchurch ever since. Wubet was first a client with CRS before becoming an employee. She was put in touch with them by a friend.

She says that CRS “makes you feel like somebody cares.”

Her roles at CRS include Community Worker, Interpreter and Social Work Assistant.

Highlights of her time with CRS include being there for clients. “As a refugee, I know how it feels. It can be lonely.” She enjoys making clients lives better. She says the people at CRS are kind and very understanding. “There’s lots of respect. When you go there, you don’t feel like you’re going to work. It’s a family.”
